TOPIC: DIVINE LOVE IV

MEMORISE:  
And David comforted Bathsheba his wife, and went in unto her, and lay with her: and she bare a son, and he called his name Solomon: and the LORD loved him. 2 Samuel 12:24

READ: 2 Chronicles 1:6 -15

6 And Solomon went up thither to the brasen altar before the LORD, which was at the tabernacle of the congregation, and offered a thousand burnt offerings upon it.

7 In that night did God appear unto Solomon, and said unto him, Ask what I shall give thee.
8 And Solomon said unto God, Thou hast shewed great mercy unto David my father, and hast made me to reign in his stead.

9 Now, O LORD God, let thy promise unto David my father be established: for thou hast made me king over a people like the dust of the earth in multitude.

10 Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge this thy people, that is so great?

11 And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king:

12 Wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee; and I will give thee riches, and wealth, and honour, such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall there any after thee have the like.

13 Then Solomon came from his journey to the high place that was at Gibeon to Jerusalem, from before the tabernacle of the congregation, and reigned over Israel.
14 And Solomon gathered chariots and horsemen: and he had a thousand and four hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, which he placed in the chariot cities, and with the king at Jerusalem.

15 And the king made silver and gold at Jerusalem as plenteous as stones, and cedar trees made he as the sycomore trees that are in the vale for abundance.

MESSAGE
The divine love of God makes Him set person up for uncommon miracles. Solomon offered a thousand burnt offerings in one day; this moved God to ask him for what he wanted and he said, "Give me wisdom". God responded to his request by saying,"l will give you wisdom and add every other thing you didn't ask for". I spent some time studying Solomon because of his wisdom and prosperity. I had to ask myself "This was a young man who knew he was not wise, because that must have been why he asked for wisdom; how come he thought of giving God a thousand burnt offerings?" I then got a revelation from the Lord - it was divine set-up. It is God who inspired Solomon to do something nobody had ever done before so that He, in turn, could do for him what He had never done for anyone before.

In 2 Samuel 12:24-25, the Bible says that when Solomon was born, God Himself called him Jedidiah, meaning Beloved of the Lord. When God loves you, from time to time, He will set you up for an uncommon miracle. He will inspire you to do something that will sound stupid to everybody else so that He can give you what nobody else can get.

One day, when my Father-in-the-Lord was still alive, he told all the Church workers that there was an urgent need in the Church that had to be met early that week, so he asked us all to go and close our accounts, then bring all the money to the Church. My wife and l went to the bank the next day, closed our accounts, then brought the money to  Church. The next Sunday, my Father-in-the-Lord announced to all workers that the need had been met, then asked "Wait a minute; how many of you closed your accounts?" Only my wife and l raised our hands. When l realised that we were the only ones who closed our accounts, l started to think, "l hope l have not added madness to my own Christianity?" Just then l heard the Lord speak to me, Son, you are not mad, l have made you do something that nobody else will do, so that when l take you to where l am taking you to, nobody can complain".

Is the Lord inspiring you to do something seemingly crazy for Him? Do it so that you don't miss the opportunity to get an uncommon miracle.

PRAYER POINT 
Father, when You set me up for an uncommon miracle, please Lord, don't let me fail You.

Judges 2:11-15 (KJV)  *And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and served Baalim:*
*And they forsook the LORD God of their fathers, which brought them out of the land of Egypt, and followed other gods, of the gods of the people that were round about them, and bowed themselves unto them, and provoked the LORD to anger.*
*And they forsook the LORD, and served Baal and Ashtaroth.*
*And the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and he delivered them into the hands of spoilers that spoiled them, and he sold them into the hands of their enemies round about, so that they could not any longer stand before their enemies.*

*Christianity of today have turned out to be another thing entirely in the body of Christ and very  unfortunately some ministers fail from telling their flocks the truth simply because they don't want to lose the membership of their congregation.*

 *Lukewarmness in the life of some Christians has hindered many people from serving the Lord.*
*Many people have used their lives to hinder the salvation of others.such people will be judged by God except they repent genuinely.*

*To live hypocritically  is dangerous to your life and destiny.*

*To taste the world, dressing like unbelievers whereby people hardly differentiate you from unbelievers is a dangerous life you're living.*
 *Unwholesome talk ought not to come out of the mouth of a believer.*
*Have you found yourself in the midst of unbelievers and watch out how some unhealthy talk come out of their mouth? This doesn't show that you are a child of God.*

*Have you turned from following God?*To exibit the youthful lust despite the warning from the Lord is disastrous.*

*What has become an idol in your life? Is it self, your career, your spouse, money,in pursue of business,sex drugs or what?* *What has replaced God in your devotion and time?*

Rejection is painful to God  just as it is painful to a man or woman rejected.
*When God is rejected sorrow and anguish are the consequences.*

*When God is rejected,you can not stand before your enemies and defeat is  inevitable.*

The children of Israel turned after other gods after the death of the Joshua generation and they paid dearly for it.
*If you can deceived yourself, know for sure that you can't deceived Satan.*

*God is merciful,you can turn to him in genuine repentance and He will have mercy on you and restore you.*

PRAYER POINT
*Father, please help me to wholeheartedly and diligently walk in your ways and in the fear of the Lord all the days of my life in Jesus name.*

PROPHETIC DECLARATION
*May you not stray from following the Lord all the days of your life! I cancel everything the enemy has put in place to cause you to backslide! You will prevail over all your enemies in Jesus name!*

It's Not Too Late Don't Give Up

Where did all the time go? We are in December again! We just said Happy New Year some time ago. You are not to old to achieve good things in life. Of a truth you are not too old to:

1. Change your mind: If you feel you made a wrong decisions in the past and it seems impossible to change, it's not too late. Please build up courage  change you mind. And start all over again.

2. Forgive first: in case someone has offended you, and you are feeling it's too late to forgive them or you feel you shouldn't be the first to forgive. Please dear readers do forgive. In my book I stated when you forgive, it's for your own good. When you forgive you are free of burden, stress.

3. Learn a new skill: I like this point, you are not too old to learn something new. My mentor Pastor Mrs. Funke Felix Adejumor went back to school after having four children. She went back to law school at about 60 years. You shouldn't look at the obstacles when you want to achieve your goals.

4. Share wisdom: Dear readers you are not too old to share wisdom. You can share wisdom through countless ways. It has never been so easy like it is now. You could share your wisdom in a book, video, podcast. Don't die without sharing your wisdom with the world.

5. Apologize for mistakes: Saying sorry is one of the ways to having peace of mind. Apologies are good. 
6. Love again: You are not too old to love again. You are not too broken to find love. For God so loved the world that he gave... If God could give you the best, you too should give your heart again. If you have too, you can get counsel and love again. Even if you lost the best friend or your love.

Take note of (3) above: Age or status is not a barrier to learning new skill.

What Make a Man Marry you? Want Men Wants?

A lot of ladies think because men are moved by what they see, they need to expose their bodies for a man to like, love and marry them. That's so not true. Yes you may attract a man with your exposed body but can you hold a conversation? Can you cook and clean? Can you support and respect him? There are so many things you may do that is wrong and won't make him take you seriously. Read on to discover the major aspect that matter to men.

Men attend to women for two reasons, SEX, and LOVE,but in most cases men do not marry for sex or love,  they marry for STABILITY.

What I mean by stability is "peace of mind"
I have seen some guys who made this statement "I love this lady but I don't think I can spend the rest of my life with her."
Don't be just a sex toy in the hands of men. There are some men who after their wives still goes out to have sex. They may have a beautiful wife, but she may not be able to give him peace or respect so they go out.

 "Men are visionaries when they think about marriage, they do not think about wedding, dresses, bride's maid, anything that most ladies think is fanciful."

They think whether this woman can build me a home, can she take care of my children and I, can she give me PEACE of mind? Can she care for my parents and siblings? Men don't like ladies who gives them discomfort, this is why a man can stay with a woman for years and meet another in a month, then get married to her.

It's comfort of having peace of mind they want. If you want him to marry you give him peace of mind. Do not be a drama queen. Don't be a troublesome person. The Bible even says seek peace with all men.
Sex is pleasure, love is affection, RESPECT IS STABILITY.

To keep a man respect him. A comedian recently said men don't need sex or love as much as they need respect. They can get sex form anyone. They don't need attention as much as they need respect. Men even need alone time. He needs his space. So respect him, his judgements, respect his advice or decisions. Do not insult, abuse or insult him in public.

TOPIC: THE SIN OF INGRATITUDE

MEMORISE:
“Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.” - (Romans 1:21)

READ: Numbers 11:1-20 (KJV)

1  And when the people complained, it displeased the LORD: and the LORD heard it; and his anger was kindled; and the fire of the LORD burnt among them, and consumed them that were in the uttermost parts of the camp.

2 And the people cried unto Moses; and when Moses prayed unto the LORD, the fire was quenched.

3 And he called the name of the place Taberah: because the fire of the LORD burnt among them.

4 And the mixt multitude that was among them fell a lusting: and the children of Israel also wept again, and said, Who shall give us flesh to eat?

5 We remember the fish, which we did eat in Egypt freely; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlick:

6 But now our soul is dried away: there is nothing at all, beside this manna, before our eyes.

7 And the manna was as coriander seed, and the colour thereof as the colour of bdellium.

8 And the people went about, and gathered it, and ground it in mills, or beat it in a mortar, and baked it in pans, and made cakes of it: and the taste of it was as the taste of fresh oil.

11 And Moses said unto the LORD, Wherefore hast thou afflicted thy servant? and wherefore have I not found favour in thy sight, that thou layest the burden of all this people upon me?

12 Have I conceived all this people? have I begotten them, that thou shouldest say unto me, Carry them in thy bosom, as a nursing father beareth the sucking child, unto the land which thou swarest unto their fathers?

13 Whence should I have flesh to give unto all this people? for they weep unto me, saying, Give us flesh, that we may eat.

14 I am not able to bear all this people alone, because it is too heavy for me.

15 And if thou deal thus with me, kill me, I pray thee, out of hand, if I have found favour in thy sight; and let me not see my wretchedness.

16 And the LORD said unto Moses, Gather unto me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom thou knowest to be the elders of the people, and officers over them; and bring them unto the tabernacle of the congregation, that they may stand there with thee

17 And I will come down and talk with thee there: and I will take of the spirit which is upon thee, and will put it upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with thee, that thou bear it not thyself alone.

18 And say thou unto the people, Sanctify yourselves against to morrow, and ye shall eat flesh: for ye have wept in the ears of the LORD, saying, Who shall give us flesh to eat? for it was well with us in Egypt: therefore the LORD will give you flesh, and ye shall eat.

19 Ye shall not eat one day, nor two days, nor five days, neither ten days, nor twenty days;
But even a whole month, until it come out at your nostrils, and it be loathsome unto you:

20  because that ye have despised the LORD which is among you, and have wept before him, saying, Why came we forth out of Egypt?

MESSAGE:

Ingratitude is a sin, and many people, including children of God, are guilty of it. Ingratitude was the cause of the original sin in the garden of Eden. Before God created man, He planted a garden and put everything there. The man just woke up to find that there was abundance everywhere. God said to Him, “Everything you see here is yours; there is only one tree I don’t want you to touch, that is the tree of the knowledge of good and evil”. The tempter then came and said, in essence, to the woman, “Forget all the things that God has given you, just focus on that one thing that you can’t have. Don’t be grateful for the rest”. She obeyed him, ate the fruit and gave some to her husband who also ate it. This made God send them out of the garden and they had to start toiling to grow their food afterwards (Genesis 3). Their ingratitude led to them losing everything God had provided for them in Eden!

It is dangerous not to be grateful to God for all that He has done for you because more than anyone and anything else, He is really worthy to be praised. It is ingratitude to focus only on what we do not have yet and ignore all other benefits the Lord has blessed us with.

There was a very wealthy man who was also a great socialite. Unfortunately, he had a stroke - the kind that can take away a man’s voice. He was taken to the best hospital in London and it so happened that I was visiting the city around the same time. We had a mutual friend who asked me to come pray for the man. When we arrived at the hospital, he was sitting up in bed with his wife by his side, but then she stepped out briefly. After I had prayed for him, he tried to pass across a message to us by gesticulating. It took us about 30 minutes to understand that all he was trying to say to us was that his wife would soon be back.

Now, look at yourself. You don’t need thirty minutes to make a simple statement. You can talk, you can shout, you can even sing. Why then don’t you thank God for the gifts and benefits He has given you while you trust Him to provide those other things you are yet to receive? As we read in our Bible text for today, ingratitude can lead to destruction; it is a sin. Be grateful for what you have.

PRAYER POINT:
Father, I am sorry for being ungrateful all this while; please have mercy on me. Now go ahead and thank Him for all He has given you.

TOPIC: WHEN LIGHT COMES IN

MEMORISE:
“Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon you.” - (Isaiah 60:1)

READ: John 8:12 (KJV)
12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world; he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

MESSAGE:

When light comes into a dark place, everything changes. Confusion and sadness change to clarity and joy. John 8:12 says that Jesus is the Light of the world. When Jesus enters into your life, everything changes for the better. When He comes in, poverty is driven out for prosperity, depression is replaced with joy and demonic oppression changes to spiritual dominance.

There was a woman who wanted to be the one controlling her husband, so she went to a witch doctor, who told her to put her husband’s picture in a basket with a lid and cover it. He assured her that, as long as the lid remained on the basket, her husband would do anything she said. He however cautioned her that any time she noticed that her husband was beginning to act sluggish, she should remove the lid for a while and after he returned to normal, she could close the basket again. She took the basket home and it worked just as the witch doctor had said. One time when she removed the lid so he wouldn’t die, her husband heard the gospel and gave his life to Christ; Light came into his life. The wife put the lid back on the basket and tried to control him, but he said, “No way, I am the head of this home”. She ran back to the witch-doctor when she saw that the charm was no longer working. He conducted a check in the spirit and said, “A stronger power has rescued him from my hold”.

When light comes into your life, the devil will have absolutely no hold on you again.

Many people are suffering today because they don’t have The Light in their lives. Many claim to be Christians but, because they don’t really have Jesus in their heart as they claim, the devil has kept them in bondage. Let The Light come into your life today so that you can be free. The Light came into my life in 1973 and since then, I have had a better quality of life. I remember how I used to have malaria at least once every month, but today, malaria is gone. I was so deep in the bondage of poverty that even though I was the one who used to pay my driver’s salary, somehow by the middle of the month, I would be so broke that I would have to borrow money from him to buy fuel in the car. When The Light came in, everything changed.

Give your life to Christ today and begin to enjoy abundant life.

Jesus is all you need to live a better life.

THEME:  DEALING WITH DESTINY KILLERS III

MEMORISE: 1 Timothy 6:10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

MESSAGE

Another very dangerous destiny killer is the 'love of money'. One thing that you must realise  from the get-go is that having a lot of money is not a God-given purpose. Being in a position where you are in control of wealth is equally not an end in itself. It is what you do with the resources God has put in your care that will determine if you will fulfil your destiny. Joseph said his destiny was to keep people alive when the time of famine came. Becoming the Prime minister of Egypt and being in control of the wealth of the nation were merely the means God used to achieve His purpose for Joseph. This is clear from Joseph's statement in Genesis 50:20:

But as for you, he thought evil against me;  it God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.

If you put your focus on money, you will lose the real purpose of God for your life.

Judas I scarier was Jesus' accountant he was so focused on the money that he did not see all the other things he could get from Jesus Christ. While Peter was being prepared to lead the Chirch and John was staying close to the Master's chest and hearing His secrets, Judas was after money. He got the money but lost his destiny, along with his soul. If you just follow the plan of God for your life and take your focus away from money, you will fulfil destiny and have plenty of money too.

When l became a General Overseer, l was bothered about how l would take care of my family since l was leaving my job, so l thought of doing business by the side, but God told me not to. Honestly, l was worried, but because my focus was not on money but His will, l obeyed. Today, by God's grace, He has blessed me with more money than l would have had if l had gone into that business.

Money is good, but the love of money will hinder God's plan for your life.

PRAYER POINT

Father, please cleanse my heart from any love that I have for money in Jesus name

2 Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyrus, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thine heart is lifted up, and thou hast said, I am a God, I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet thou art a man, and not God, though thou set thine heart as the heart of God:

3 Behold, thou art wiser than Daniel; there is no secret that they can hide from thee:

4 With thy wisdom and with thine understanding thou hast gotten thee riches, and hast gotten gold and silver into thy treasures:

17 Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.

18 Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee.

19 All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more.

MESSAGE

Pride is one of the most dangerous destiny killers l know. If there is any iota of pride in your life, or someone has been telling you that you are proud, you had better cry out to God to take it away as you work on becoming humble. James 4:5 says that God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble. You cannot achieve your destiny without God's grace, so if God resists you and refuses to give you His grace, that is the end.

I really thank God that He helped me with this early on in ministry. When l became General Overseer of the Church in 1981, the name plate on my table read 'Reverend (Dr) Enoch ADEBOYE, Ph.d, M.Sc, B.Sc.' I wanted everyone to know that this was not just an ordinary pastor, that l was a doctor too. What l should have added to it is empty barrel, because empty barrels make the loudest  noise. God asked me if l wanted Him to lift me and l said, "Yes, of course, Lord". The Lord then asked me to remove all those titles and just be addressed as 'Pastor'. Thank God l obeyed, because no sooner had l done that than He started lifting me.

Pride is a destiny killer; don't let it hinder you from getting God's grace to fulfil God's purpose for your life. Oh, God made Lucifer very beautiful amongst angels he was special. Just as Jacob gave Joseph a coat of many colors, God gave Lucifer a covering of every precious stone you could think about. God even made musical instruments inside him so, with his wow E alone, he.could play sweet music. He was really special. However, Ezekiel 28:17 says:

Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou had corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: l will cast thee to the ground, l will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.

Today, that Lucifer that was described as bright is now known as darkness.

If you become proud, you would lose everything God has in store for you. Instead of being celebrated, you would become abhorred. If you want to fulfil your destiny, you must wear humility like a garment (Colossians 3:12).

REFLECTION

Check your life for any element of pride. Be honest with yourself and deal with that pride today.

11 So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.

MESSAGE:

Laziness is one major destiny killer that many people do not pay attention to. You need to realise that the journey to your destiny is divided into times and seasons, and if you miss one because of laziness, you may never be able to recover it. This may ultimately cause a dent in the fulfilment of your destiny. When it is time to make a move, go for it immediately. Don’t postpone it. Proverbs 22:13 describes such a fellow accurately. When something needs to be done, do it, whether it is convenient or not. There is no convenience in conquering lands and expanding territories; it is only the courageous and strong that fulfil destiny.

Several years ago, my wife and I, together with one of our sons who was 2 years and four months old at the time, embarked on a journey from Lagos to Otukpo in Benue State, Nigeria. The journey was for a dual purpose of starting a parish of the Church there and holding a Congress. It was during the rainy season and a major bridge on the way between Ore and Benin had been swept away by the flood. When we got there and found no bridge, we had to sleep in the car that night. The place was so dangerous that we were advised not to step out of our car at all. I remembered there was an alternative road, so we turned round to go by that road which had been abandoned, only to discover that bridges along that road had also been swept away. We could have easily turned back and gone home, but we kept going. By the time we had travelled a couple of miles along the abandoned road, the silencer of the car broke off. We picked it, put it in the boot and continued the journey. It was time to go to Otukpo and there was no turning back! Whenever we encountered a stream, one of us would go into it to find out inch by inch, the areas where the car could drive.

In all, we spent three days on that road, but we arrived safely and did what needed to be done. Today, in Benue State alone, we have over 500 parishes of The Redeemed Christian Church of God.

Understand your times and seasons and seize the opportunities in them when they come.

KEY POINT:
Convenience is just an excuse; when something needs to be done, do it, whether it is convenient or not.

TOPIC: UNDERSTANDING DESTINY

MEMORISE:
“According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:” - (Ephesians 1:4)

READ: Jeremiah 1:5 (KJV)

5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

MESSAGE:

Destiny simply means the plan of God for a person’s life. In other words, it is the purpose of God for a person’s life. In Jeremiah 1:5, God said:

Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

God is a builder (Psalm 127:1). Like every builder, He works according to a plan. He doesn’t begin to build until the plan is ready. Thus before He formed you, before your father met your mother, God had a plan for your life. The good news is that the plan is a good one (Jeremiah 29:11).

Now, you may think, “If God had a good plan in store for all human beings, then why do some end up badly?” This happens because no matter how good God’s plan for you is, if you say you don’t want it, He will not force it on you. Romans 8:31 says:
What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

That question wasn’t answered in the Bible; however, the clear answer is “You”. Even if God is for you, you can be against yourself. How can you be against yourself? Proverbs 22:29 says it is only the diligent that will stand before kings. Deuteronomy 28:1-14 tells us that it is only those who are obedient that will be blessed by God.

If you decide to look into Scriptures at all the people who fulfilled their destiny, you would see that they have these things in common. Joseph was a very hard-working boy - so hard-working that it wasn’t long after he got to Potiphar’s house that his master put him in charge of all his possessions. The boy also lived holy. When Potiphar’s wife made advances at him, he said he could not sleep with her and sin against his God. Diligence and holiness. Believe me honestly, if you live holy and refuse to be lazy, you will fulfil your destiny.

KEY POINT:
God's plan for your life will only be fulfilled if you cooperate with Him.

TOPIC: DON'T TURN HIM AWAY!
TEXT: LUKE 5:1-10

1.) THE KEY VERSE:

"And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon's, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship" (LUKE 5:3).

2.) THE TEXT:
(Luke  5:1-10 KJV)

"5:1 And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret,  

5:2 And saw two ships standing by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets.  

5:3 And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon's, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship.  

5:4 Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.  

5:5 And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.  

5:6 And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake.  

5:7 And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink.  

5:8 When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord.  

5:9 For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken:  

5:10 And so was also James, and John, the sons of Zebedee, which were partners with Simon. And Jesus said unto Simon, Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men."

3.) THE MESSAGE:

I.) God has always needed humans to carry out His mission on earth. This does not mean that He cannot carry out His mission without the instrumentality of humans.

II.) In His wisdom, He has designed to get us involved. We are God's creations and the vehicle for the advancement of His course on earth. 

III.) However, in His choice of who to use, He never compels. He gives the privilege and leaves us with the choice of being willing to be used.

IV.) Jesus, in our text, needed a platform from which He would preach to the multitudes at the seashore. There were many boats around but He chose to approach that of Simon. 

V.) Observe that He did not compel him to use his boat but simply "prayed him." Had Peter turned Him away, He would have gone elsewhere. But thank God, he obliged Him. Jesus did not use and abandon Peter. He knew how he had toiled all night and had failed. He gave him the miracle of a great catch.

VI.) Overwhelmed by the blessing of a single moment of service and consecration, Peter took a wise decision for a lifetime of service and commitment. He saw the initial blessing as a tip of the iceberg. If he had given to the Lord a moment of service and gotten such a huge return, what would a lifetime of surrender bring him?

VII.) Today, the Lord is in search of 'boats' He can use. There are many people out there He needs to reach, to teach and to bless. Will you lend Him your 'boat' - your life, talent, house and other possessions? Are you willing to allow Him take your time and use you to reach people? 

VIII.) Give all your best to the Master.

MESSAGE

Covetousness is so dangerous that the Bible says you should beware of it to such an extent that when you see it in the life of someone, you are to stay away from the fellow.

But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.
I Corinthians 5:11

Abraham kept company with Lot his nephew - a covetous fellow , as we saw in yesterday's study. Little did he know that Lot was hindering him from hearing the voice of God and for the promise of the Lord being fulfilled in his life. Immediately Lot left him, God spoke.

And the LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward: For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever.
Genesis 13:14-15

If you have a friend who is always talking about how he or she wants money, cars and worldly possessions, yet never talks about impacting his or her world or doing whatever assignments the Lord would have him or her do, part ways with such a fellow. If he or she is never content and always wants what others have, so desperately as to be willing to do anything to get it, such a fellow is too dangerous to be called your friend. If any such friend refuses to change, respectfully part ways with the person, the same way Abraham parted from Lot. You have to take this step so that the person would not hinder you from getting what God has in store for you.

There is a difference between being a big dreamer and being covetous. The big dreamer talks about impacting his or her world, with the resultant effect of riches following, while the covetous is not interested in making the world better - only in the riches. Understand this and lookout for how your friends see riches. If you discover that they are covetous and will not change, part ways with them.

KEY POINT 

Don't keep company with the covetous.

TOPIC: WHAT DO YOU GLORY IN?
TEXT: JEREMIAH 9:23-26

1.) THE KEY VERSES:

"Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD..." (JEREMIAH 9:23, 24).

2.) THE TEXT:
(Jeremiah  9:23-26 KJV)

"9:23Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches:  

9:24 But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.  

9:25 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will punish all them which are circumcised with the uncircumcised;  

9:26 Egypt, and Judah, and Edom, and the children of Ammon, and Moab, and all that are in the utmost corners, that dwell in the wilderness: for all these nations are uncircumcised, and all the house of Israel are uncircumcised in the heart."

3.) THE MESSAGE:

I.) It is not uncommon as you interact with people, especially for the first time at social functions, to find them wanting to tell you much about themselves. They talk of their academic qualifications, material possessions, social status and connections, travels to different parts of the world, the various awards they have received, and the likes. 

II.) Should you make a mistake to address them without the titles that go along with their names, they will take serious offence and demand your unreserved apology.

III.) In our passage today, God cautions the nation of Israel against taking pride and bragging about their material possessions. Boasting about their wisdom, wealth, worldly connections as well as their might is worthless. 

IV.) Rather, if they are to take pride in anything at all, it should be in the fact that they know the Lord. Knowing God and partaking of His righteousness and goodness is worth more than any worldly possession or attainment. 

V.) The reason is obvious: all earthly possessions and attainments are temporal and transient. But God is eternal; and being in relationship with Him secures us eternal blessings.

VI.) Christians, therefore, should hold the things of this world lightly. It is not as if they do not consider having worldly possessions as essential for life and are indifferent to them. 

VII.) They, instead, have a higher sense of value. They may have academic laurels, financial wealth and other material blessings; all these are not the most important things for them. They cherish and hold dearly their relationship with God above any of these.

VIII.) Unfortunately, today, some people claim to be Christians but give little or no time to nurturing their relationship with God. Instead, they spend the most part of their lives pursuing earthly things. 

IX.) You need to check up your sense of value. What do you glory in? What gives you the greatest sense of joy and satisfaction? Remember, every earthly possession will pass away.

10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.


MESSAGE:
Covetousness is when you are eagerly desirous of wealth or material possessions that you are willing to do anything, even committing sin, to get it. In Colossians 3:5, the Bible calls covetousness idolatry:


Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

In other words, the covetous fellow is not a child of God, but an idol worshipper.


There are many people in the Bible who covetousness ruined. Lot, for example, was a man who was picked up by Abraham. He became rich because of his association with Abraham. When his wealth grew and there was contention between his servants and those of Abraham, the issue revealed what had always been within Lot: a covetous heart.


And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered every where, before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, as thou comest unto Zoar.
Genesis 13:10

Ordinarily, when Abraham asked Lot to choose first which side he wanted to go to, he should have said, "No, Uncle.


You are the one who brought me along with you. You are the one who has been taking care of me all this while. You choose which side you want and l will go to the other side".


At the end of the day, his covetousness brought him trouble because he lost all that he took to and even gained at Sodom. He lost his wife too.

Covetousness is so terrible that it can destroy a man completely. Check yourself to know whether you are having some inordinate ambition to be rich.


Kill that ambition now and look to God, trusting Him to make you rich in His own way. Only the blessings of God will make you rich without adding sorrow to your life (Proverbs 10: 22).

REFLECTION:
If there is any sign of covetousness in your life? If there is, pray that God would remove it in Jesus' name.

*TOPIC: KEYS TO FAITH FOR SUPERNATURAL SUPPLIES.*

SCRIPTURE: "That you be not slothful but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises". Hebrews 6:12

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY🤔: Covenant people do not speak doubt and unbelief.

It is abundantly clear throughout scriptures that our God is a God of supernatural supplies; He is a God of extraordinary supplies (2 Kings 4:5-7, Mark 14:12-16).

And it is important to know that whatever God promised us can be collected by the arms of faith; faith is our connector to Divine promises (Hebrew 6:12).

Today, we will x-ray the different keys to faith that enhance or attract supernatural supplies.

What are these keys?

*1. Insight from the Word (Romans 10:17)*.
The Word of God fuels your faith to receive what is yours (Job 22:22-25, 2 Corinthians 8:9).

*2. The God-first lifestyle (Matthew 6:33)*. You cannot seek God first and end up in poverty and penury (2 Chronicles 26:5).

*3. The practice of the covenant of sowing and reaping, tithing, and giving (Luke 6:38)*. You don’t beg for the harvest to arrive if the seedtime is flowing (Genesis 8:22).

*4. The mindset of the covenant.*
There is a way people of covenant think (2 Corinthians 10:3-6); they refuse to feel inferior to any man under any condition (Genesis 47:7).

*5. The lifestyle of the covenant.*
Covenant people do not beg, borrow or appear pitiable or reproachful before people (Philemon 1:18-19). They refuse to look up to men as their source (Acts 20:33-35).

*6. The language of the covenant.* Covenant people do not speak doubt and unbelief. (John 2:3-5).

*7. The praise style of the covenant.*
People who are in covenant relationship with God live the lifestyle of praise and worship (Psalm 67:5-7).

Beloved, apply these keys faithfully and you will experience unlimited supernatural supplies.

Remember this💡: Covenant people do not speak doubt and unbelief.

*ASSIGNMENT(S):*
*1. Go through the keys to faith for supernatural supplies again and engage them in your walk with God on earth.*
*2. Make demands on the release of whatever is yours that is tied down by the devil.*

PRAYER🙏🏽: Father, I receive the grace to walk in faith and follow the required principles for supernatural supplies. Anywhere my resources are, I command them to come to me now, Lord in Jesus’ Name.

*TOPIC: THE TERMINATION OF CAPTIVITY.*

SCRIPTURE📖: "And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed". Acts 16:25-26

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY🤔: Every form of captivity can be terminated by the Power of God.

Sometime ago, a woman testified in one of our Church Services of how she had been into masturbation for 18 years. She usually found herself in the dream surrounded by hefty dogs that would not allow her to move. Those hefty dogs were symbolic of immoral captivity, and she remained in that lifestyle for 18 years until the Power of God delivered her.

There are many people today who are in diverse captivities in life – iniquity, singleness, barrenness, wretchedness, etc. where the devil has kept them.

But the truth is, every form of captivity can be terminated by the Power of God.

And the Power of God visits three major places in a captivity:

*1. The Power of God shakes or destroys the foundations of prisons* (Acts 16:25-26).
Every prison has a foundation; there is something it is standing on. This is what the Power of God first destroys.

*2. The power of God forces open prison doors*. Prisons have doors, and the doors can be opened for the captive to come out.

*3. The Power of God has the capacity to lose all bands and chains* (Acts 16:26).

Now, what are the secrets of the power that terminates captivity?

*a. The power of prayer (Acts 16:25).*

*b. The power of praise (Acts 16:25).*

*c. The power of the Word (Psalm 107:20, John 8:32,36, John 17:17).*

*d. The power of the anointing (Isaiah 10:27).*

*e. The power of prophetic impact (Luke 13:12).*

Beloved, whatever happened at any point in your life that has licensed the devil and his agents to keep you in captivity, that foundation is broken, and you are coming out now, in Jesus’ Name.

Remember this💡: Every form of captivity can be terminated by the power of God.

*ASSIGNMENT(S):*
*1. Engage the secrets of the power that terminates captivity mentioned in today’s message.*
*2. By virtue of Christ’s finished work on Calvary, believe that you cannot be a captive.*

PRAYER🙏🏽: Lord, thank You for setting me free from every form of captivity by the power in the Blood of Jesus Christ. I am no longer a slave to the enemy, Lord in Jesus’ name.
